Edward Beamon Howell Jr.

Edward Beamon Howell Jr, 73, of Fayetteville died October 1, 2018. He was born November 30, 1944 in Morrilton, Arkansas the son of Edward Howell and Mary Moose Howell. He is survived by his wife Johna Johnson Howell of Fayetteville; sister Margaret Greene of Morrilton; brother Mike Howell and wife Rita of Morrilton; daughter Michele Howell Harris and husband Gary of Bentonville, Arkansas and grandchildren Addison Tull and Riley Tull of Bentonville. He was preceded in death by nephew, Michael Moose Howell Jr. He managed his own newspaper route beginning at age 13. He graduated from Morrilton High School in 1962. He served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1967. He started his retail career as a stock boy with Ben Franklin while still in high school. He began work for Sterling Stores in 1967. He joined Walmart Stores, Incorporated in 1976 after thinking on Mr. Sam's original offer made in 1970. He held various store, district and corporate positions until his retirement in 1996. After retirement he did many things including owning his own businesses and working for other retailers. He worked for Walgreens until the time of his death. Ed and Johna celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 21, 2018. He will be remembered for his work ethic, helping others grow their careers and his dry sense of humor. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Springdale. At his request there will be no services. Donations may be made in his name to the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks.
