Gene A. Holt, longtime resident of Springdale, passed away peacefully at his home Nov 17, 2018. He was born in Seminole, Oklahoma on October 28, 1930 to Lester and Lillian Perkins Holt. Gene graduated from Springdale High School in 1948 and immediately joined the United States Navy serving as an Aviation Machinist with the Naval Parachute Unit. He was honorably discharged in 1952 earning the Good Conduct Medal. He married Cleo Couch at the First Methodist Church in Springdale in 1954. He was a truck driver for Jones Truck Lines for over 30 years. Gene was a member of the Elks Lodge #1987, past member of the Washington County Razorback Club and a member of the Springdale Country Club since 1961. He was blessed to be known as the "Grandfather of the Club" and loved and was loved by many there as family. Geno lived to play golf, attend morning coffee and afternoon happy hour with his many friends. Gene was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He cared for the love of his life, Cleo, through her decline and death. Gene is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years, Cleo, one sister, Patricia Buffington and two brothers, Dick and Jack Holt. Survivors include one son, Danny Couch (Eulene) of Springdale, two daughters, Peggy Harper (Bert) of Hereford, Arizona and Debbie Hardiman (John) of Rogers; five grandchildren Kelly Couch, Rick Couch (Shelley), Nicole Hardiman (Ed), Julie Neel (Britt) and Mark Hardiman; six great-grandchildren, Stephen, Dakota, Colton, Cooper, Dito and Lillian.
