Emanuel "Manny" Harry Backstrom

Emanuel Harry "Manny" Backstrom, age 82 of Fayetteville, Ark. passed peacefully November 17, 2018 with his family by his side. Manny was born July 10, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa to the late Harry and Alta Backstrom. He married Ima Lou Mease of Vandervoort, Ark. in 1955 then moved to Fayetteville, Ark. in 1958 where Manny was employed by Standard Register for 34 years. He also owned and operated Cato Springs Auto body shop 20 years and served as a Washington County deputy sheriff eight years. Manny, also known as "Pappaw" to his family, was a devout man of God; loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; and leaves a legacy of integrity, leadership and strong work ethic to everyone that knew him. He was also known for his dry humor and wit. Manny is survived by his wife, Ima Lou Backstrom of Fayetteville, Ark.; son, Randy and wife Summer Backstrom of Bentonville, Ark.; daughter, Ramona and husband David Taylor of Kingsville, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three nieces; and three nephews. A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 27 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Callison Lough Funeral Home located at 605 W. Central Ave. in Bentonville, Ark. followed by a Celebration of Life honoring Manny at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cove, Ark.
