John Robert Kehn, Jr., age 80, of Fayetteville died Thursday, November 1, 2018 in Fayetteville. He was born October 12, 1938 in Hogeye, Ark., the son of John R. Kehn, Sr. and Walburga "Wallie" Kehn. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Jane Bell-Kehn, and his siblings, Pauline, Tom, Rosemary, Betty Anne, and Jerry. He is a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville. He was raised in the Catholic faith and attended St. Jospeh Catholic School in Fayetteville. He graduated from Fayetteville High School, where he played basketball, and attended the University of Arkansas. After 40 years, he retired from Arkansas Western Gas Company, where he was Vice President of Operations. He served as the president of the Arkansas Gas Association and the Washington County Water Authority, and was a founding member and the initial president of Arkansas One Call. He was a member of the Rotary Club. He also served on the board for the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce. He volunteered for many years at the Seven Hills Homeless Center. He followed his bliss back to a little Hogeye farm, back to his roots. He loved his animals, both large and small. His greatest joy and pride were his grandchildren, whom he deeply loved and tirelessly entertained at the farm or while taking them camping and fishing. John found great joy in life, and he brought great joy to all of those fortunate enough to be his family and friends. He enjoyed life to the fullest with an infectious smile and a big heart. God has extravagantly blessed us by the kind and gentle soul of this good man. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Fields Powell Kehn; two daughters, Regina Kehn-Flores of Dallas, Texas and Christina Kehn of Fayetteville; three sons, Doug Kehn and his wife Michelle of Trenton, Texas, Mark Powell and his wife Elizabeth of Fayetteville, and Matt Powell and his wife Stacey of Fayetteville; and eight grandchildren, Gage, Kailey, John Michael, Walker, Aubrey, Taylor, Ella May, and Leta. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018 at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity in his name.
