Jeanette Elizabeth Shub

Jeanette Elizabeth Shub, 95, of Bentonville, Ark., died Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Apple Creek Healthand Rehab in Centerton, Ark. She was born October 20, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter ofHarry Richmond Seavey and Sarah (Sadie) Katherine Lucas Seavey. Jean graduated from York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois in 1940 and received her nursing degree in 1944 from Oak Park Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She served as an army nurse in World War II. Later, Jean practiced as a registered nurse at Dorchester General Hospital, Cambridge, Md.D and at St. Mary's Hospital in Rogers and then became a public health nurse at the Benton County Public Health Department in Bentonville, where she worked for many years until retirement. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville. As a Stephen Minister, she was trained to provide one-to-one Christian care to people going through tough times. In addition, Jean was a foster parent for several years through the Benton County Department of Human Services and provided a temporary home for children in need. Also, she served as a member of the Ozark Guidance Center Advisory Council and volunteered for the American Cancer Society and for the Northwest Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, working at the front desk and in the gift shop. Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed playing games on her iPad. She crocheted beautiful baby afghans and donated many of them to the Northwest Medical Center Auxiliary. Most important to Jean was family. She was a loving mom, grandma, and great grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harry Seavey and Robert Seavey. Survivors include three sons, Allan Shub and his wife, Christine of Charlotte, N.C., Robert Shub of Bentonville, Ark., and Daniel Shub and his wife, LaDonna of Bentonville, Ark.; one daughter, Sue Ann Banks and her husband, Randy of Bentonville, Ark.; five grandchildren, Daniel Shub, Elizabeth Shub, Amy Shub, Jacob Shub, and Eric Shub; three great-grandchildren, Lynndon Shub, Beckett Shub, and Nolan Shub; one niece, Cathy Hauschildt; one nephew, Brian Seavey; and a special family member, Kevin Starr. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville.
