William Ray Kennan

William Ray Kennan died quietly in his home on Thursday, April 5, 2018. He served in World War II as a member of the 872nd Tank Battalion. He was badly injured in France. He was married to his one great love, LaVerne Frances (Clark) Kennan, who died March 3, 2008. He leaves behind one son, William R. Kennan II and his wife Betty Lorraine Kennan. In addition, there are six grandchildren who mourn his passing: Jeffrey Maitland Kennan, Matthew Alexander Kennan, Caleb William Kennan, Kelsey Elizabeth Harmount (husband Joel), Kathryn Ann Charna (husband Todd), and Lawson Clark Kennan. There are two great grandchildren: Baylee Dawn Kennan, and a great-granddaughter to be born May 2018, to Kathryn & Todd Charna. In addition he is mourned by those who tended to him and loved him: Karren Breeden (very special friend), Rebecca Henson, Michael Barkley, Ashley Marshall, and Caleb Eichenberger-Gay. He will be missed by his VA care team, including Dr. Katherine Krantz and Sandy Strong, RN. William Kennan was a hero of that great generation who knew sacrifice and dedication. He was also one who loved well and long. He will be missed each and every day. A memorial service will be held on June 15, 2018 at at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark.
