Lloyd Thomas Jones, Sr.Holiday Island, AR, 1939 - 2018 0comment
Lloyd Thomas Jones, Sr., 78, of Holiday Island, Arkansas was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. He was surrounded by his children and is now free from his long battle with dementia.
Lloyd was born on July 9, 1939 in Augusta, Arkansas to Thomas Morgan and Helen (Jackson) Jones. He graduated from Laura Conner High School in Augusta in 1957 and from the University of Arkansas in 1963. He met his beloved wife, Mildred Martin, on a blind date on campus and they were married on June 16, 1963 in Little Rock. Upon graduation, he entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged as a Captain. His career in banking spanned five decades to banks in Tennessee, Texas, and Arkansas.
His life took a dramatic turn when he was introduced to Jesus Christ by a Presbyterian minister in Memphis and then became a born- again believer. That decision has impacted his family and their spiritual journey to this day and will continue through eternity.
His hobbies included music, flying, traveling, books and keeping his family entertained with his stories and jokes. He was known by his close family members as a constant encourager. One of his grandsons referred to him as a "larger than life character".
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and grandson, Aaron Jones. He leaves behind his children, Lloyd and Kathy Jones and Kay and Mike McDoniel; as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and loving brother, Ron Jones of Augusta.
A special thank you to Green Acres Easy Living in Rogers for their extraordinary efforts and loving care. An online guest book is provided by Heritage Funeral Home at heritageofnwa.com.
