Elvin Dale Brown, 76, of Clarksville, Ark., died Monday, March 12, 2018, in Fayetteville. He was born in 1941 in Harmon, Ark., the son of Earle and Ada Brown; a 1959 Springdale High School graduate; graduate of the University of Arkansas with a master's degree in horticulture; and a member of the Clarksville Church of Christ, serving as an elder for many years. Elvin was a commercial grower of peaches, apples, strawberries, and grapes; shoe store owner; apartment owner; former captain in US Army, stationed in Korea and Pine Bluff; worked as a research assistant at the U of A Fruit Substation, where he helped to introduce the Venus grape and several varieties of blackberries; and was an outstanding photographer of native plants. He is survived by wife Mary; son, Marty (NaLisa); son, Matt (Kristi); daughter, Myra (Vernon); 10 grandchildren: Eli, Luke, Sam, Gabe, Nie, Alec, Zeac, Addi, Myli, and Landon; brothers, Stanley Brown and Richard Brown; sister, Joyce (Gerry) Bequette; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation is Friday, March 16, from 6-8 p.m. and funeral is Saturday, March 17, at 1 p.m., both at Clarksville Church of Christ. Burial at Minnow Creek Cemetery.
