James Willie "Buddy" Evans, 75, died Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born March 29, 1942 in Hindsville, the third child and firstborn son of George Washington "Wash" and Mildred Evelene Gosvner Evans. Buddy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and taught his wife and children to fish. He was a kind and generous man, sharing what he earned with others. He bought many raffle tickets from his grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Buddy drove a truck for Willis Shaw, Jones Truck Lines, and several others before retiring. He would often be heard saying "the first thing you do when you retire is to get rid of your watch." He enjoyed his later years watching old westerns, fishing, hunting, and going to casinos where he once won a Hummer. Buddy was baptized into Christ on October 1, 2006. He attended Huntsville Church of Christ. Buddy married Patricia Ann Claypool on July 7, 1961. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was also preceded in death by a still born son. He survived by four children, Barbara Smith and husband Ricky of Huntsville, Kenny Evans and fiance' Kelly Collins of Springdale, James K. Evans of Fayetteville, Carrie Evans and fiancé Stephen Stufflebeam of Bentonville; three brothers, Willard, Sam, and Mike Evans; five sisters, Loretta Humphrey, Lola Davenport, Dellia Lloyd, Jean Ferguson, Sue Evans; eight grandchildren, Johnny Knowlton, Michael Knowlton, Amanda Knowlton, Lori Hawkins, Trevor Evans, Justin Evans, Chase Evans, Emilia Shoemaker; and eight great-grandchildren, Collin Carter, Bryson Knowlton, Knox Knowlton, Penelope Hawkins, Parker Hawkins, Beckett Evans, Lawson Evans, and Violet Cartwright. A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Forest Park Cemetery in Springdale. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Heritage Funeral Home, online guestbook at www.heritageofnwa.com.
