Brooke Hong Nguyen-Greenwood

Brooke Hong Nguyen-Greenwood of Centerton, Arkansas died March 3, 2018 in her home in the company of her husband, daughter, niece, brother, and loving dogs. She was 54 and born the ninth of 14 children to Hue Thi Nguyen and Dang Van Nguyen on May 20, 1963 in Saigon, Vietnam. She came to the United States at age 12 and graduated from Southside High School in 1983. Brooke earned her beautician license from Westark Beauty College and was a hair stylist in Fort Smith for several years. She moved to Bentonville and worked for Walmart Health and Wellness for the last 10 years where she established countless lasting and loving friendships. She had an affinity for cooking, crafting, traveling with her husband, bird watching, and nurturing her garden. She was curious, open, and optimistic about life and loved new experiences. She enjoyed live music, arts and crafts festivals, and running 5K's for charitable causes. For several years, Brooke found immense joy spending her holiday mornings volunteering at the Salvation Army of Bentonville, preparing meals and spreading holiday cheer. She was extremely generous in all her efforts and always carried supplies in the trunk of her car in the event she were to come across a stranger in need. She was incredibly understanding, forgiving, and loved to make those around her laugh, especially when a practical joke was involved. It was an honor to know and love her and to be known and loved by her. Her legacy of love and humor leaves a lasting impression on all who knew her and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her father, Dang Van Nguyen, of Fort Smith, her husband, Shawn Greenwood of Centerton, her daughter, Mindy Nguyen, of Chicago, Illinois, her son, Chris Phan and his wife, of Fort Smith, one granddaughter, four sisters, five brothers, seven nieces, and seven nephews. Visitation is Friday March 9, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. and funeral service is 1:00pm Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.
