The Fugitt Family wishes to publicize the passing of Jack Fugitt of Republic, Mo., at the age of 77 years old. Jack Fugitt "cashed in his chips" where he rested at the Fugitt Family Farm, located in Republic, Mo., on Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 at 7:50 am. Jack is survived by his son, Mark Fugitt and wife Carol Fugitt (New Jersey); and grandchildren, Noelle Gabrish, Tyler Camping, and Tyler Gabrish (New Jersey). Jack Fugitt was born March 9, 1941 in Springfield, Mo., to Boyd and Ruby (Simmons) Fugitt of Republic, Mo. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Fugitt; brother, Bill Fugitt; sisters, Jo Long, Wanda Haden, Louella Loomis Lamb; father, Boyd Fugitt; and mother, Ruby Fugitt. Jack was given the post-nominal letters of CB after my mom, Sara Fugitt, graduated with her BSN degree in 1993. CB stands for Cow Boy. Dad was most definitely a cowboy but he was so much more. Jack was a presence wherever he went, the Springfield Regional Stock Yards, rodeos, ropings, church, golf course, Southwest Missouri and Northern Arkansas Communities, his customer's door steps, Applebee's in Nixa, Mo., casino, Shriner meetings, card games "wherever they would take place," and on and on. The name Jack Fugitt meant something to most people when he walked in or was spoken of. My father was an astounding listener, hard worker, lover of animals and really just a simple man. I have heard, more than once, that if someone was to pass onto Heaven and they had to return to earth as an animal, they would choose to be a member of Jack Fugitt's cattle herd. To Dad the farm and cattle were home. Jack loved his cattle, farm, friends and family. While Dad will be sorely missed, the relationships that he established will continue to bear the resemblances of Jack Fugitt through the kindness he showed everyone, love of animals, card playing, and storytelling. Terrell Creek was where Dad strived to be until his last breaths were taken and he was able to join "Mom" for eternity. Jack happily joins his wife "Sara Fugitt" and beloved dog "Buster" in Heaven. I can tearfully and sincerely report that at the time of the passing of my father, Jack Fugitt, he had never looked so much at peace. Visitation services for Jack Fugitt will be held at The First Christian Church of Republic, 443 North Main Avenue, Republic, Mo. 65738, between 3 and 6 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2018. Memorial services, with military honors, will follow immediately at 6 p.m., Saturday, June 30, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted and made to The First Christian Church of Republic "Attention: Jack Fugitt." Services are under the direction of Meadors Funeral Home, Republic Chapel. Online condolences may be shared on this website, at www.meadorsfuneralhome.com. Mr. Fugitt's obit was lovingly written by his son, Mark.
