Joseph Woodfred Smith, 90, of Springdale, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at his home. He was born Jan. 12, 1928 in Monticello to James William and Rachael Beasley Smith, the youngest of 17 children. Joseph served in the Navy during WWII. He owned and operated J.W. Smith Television in Pine Bluff for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and above all he was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Mae (Massanelli) Smith whom he married June 9, 1949; three children, Marty Smith and wife Kathy of Houston, Texas, Marsha Johnson and husband Randy of Springdale, Jay Smith and wife Mira of McLean, Va.; three grandchildren, Christopher Smith and wife Nicole, Sarah Smith, Savannah Smith; one great-grandchild, Matthew Joseph Smith; and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings and a grandson, Matthew Smith. A funeral mass will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springdale with interment at 11 a.m. at Fayetteville National Cemetery with military honors.
