Harry Robert Neer, age 91, passed away at his home at 1:00 A.M. Friday, June 1st. He was born January 4, 1927 to Harry Garfield Neer and Margaret Denly Neer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He grew up in Kansas, and lived more than 40 years in Indiana before moving to Arkansas in 2000. He was a mechanical engineer and retired from Public Service Indiana as manager of technical operations. Following retirement, he worked with Stone & Webster Engineering in Denver and Amax Coal Company Indianapolis as a project manager and consultant to power companies on coal utilization. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Harriett Wintle Neer, three daughters from his first marriage to Jeanne Galbreath: Jeanine Braaten, Paula Cox, and Peggy Shortridge; one step-daughter, Maribeth Caldwell, two step-sons, Curt Caldwell and Chris Caldwell; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one grandson. He held a life membership in Winnemac, Indiana Masonic Lodge and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was a World War II veteran. A lifelong Episcopalian, Harry was a member of St. Theodore's Episcopal Church in Bella Vista. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. June 20th at St. Theodore's with Fr. Will Lowrey officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Theodore's Episcopal Church or Legacy Circle of Life Hospice. Cremation arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home.
