Michael Shane Wallen, age 46, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, July 15, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born March 2, 1972 in Rogers, Arkansas, the son of Jerry Wallen, Sr. and Judy Taylor Wallen. Michael served in the United States Navy in the first Gulf War, stationed in Pearl Harbor where he was a Signalman on the USS Goldsborough. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Michael was a volunteer firefighter at the Lowell Fire Department and he was a heavy equipment operator. He received his associates degree in environmental science from NWACC. He is survived by his wife, Christina Wallen; a daughter, Skyler Wallen of Fayetteville; his parents, Jerry Wallen, Sr. and Judy Wallen of Williamson, Georgia; a sister, Cheryl Weldon and her husband Marcus of Williamson, Georgia; a brother, Jerry Wallen, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Ozark, Arkansas; a nephew, Trent Baker of Williamson, Georgia; two uncles, Jackie Taylor of Fayetteville, Arkansas and John Wallen of Hitchcox, Texas; two cousins, Brett Taylor of Farmington and Houston Taylor of Fayetteville. Visitation will be 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Moore's Chapel. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Monday at Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville with burial to follow at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
