On January 10, 2018 Robert (Bob) Lee Shumate Jr., 77, closed his eyes one last time only to open them to the smiling face of his beautiful wife who had passed 41 days before. Bob was a very accomplished man with unstoppable energy and opinions. If you ever needed a job done, Bob was your go-to man. He retired from Scott Paper Company as Chief Environmental and Process Technician. He was active in the community and held many titles throughout his lifetime. He served two terms as Exalted Ruler Rogers/Bentonville Elks Lodge 2144 and then District Deputy. Other areas of service: Ambassador of Rogers/Lowell Chamber of Commerce, Masonic Lodge, Men's Business Bowling League, Superintendent of the construction of Cape Canaveral in Florida, and Hi-Q Coordinator to name a few. He was an avid sports fan and influenced many young people through his coaching of baseball and bowling teams. He enjoyed his time on Beaver Lake boating around on his pontoon as well as entertaining in his backyard with pool parties. He is preceded in death by his wife, Susan Shumate, daughter, Debbie Timmerman, both his parents, Robert and Elsie Shumate, one brother, Tommy Shumate. He is survived by one son, Ron Shumate and his wife Gina; grandchildren, Alicia Wade, Kendra Madewell and her husband Ethan, Brett Shumate, Tera Timmerman and a smattering of great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 27, from 1 until 3 p.m. at the Rollins Funeral Home, in Rogers, Arkansas. Instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in both Bob and Susan's name to the Elks Red Pig Fund, 501 S 40th Street, Rogers, Ark. 72758. This helps fund five Adult Development Centers in Arkansas.
