O'Wanda Ruth Adams, 89, of Fort Smith, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Methodist Health and Rehab in Fort Smith, Ark. She retired as an assembly line worker at Whirlpool Corporation in Fort Smith. She was a member of the Cavanaugh Freewill Baptist Church in Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents Earnest P. Chambers and Lena L. (Janoe) Chambers. When O'Wanda was five years old, she went to live with her aunt and uncle Roy and Gladys McGaughy, who raised her. They also preceded her in death along with two brothers Reverend Roy Junior McGaughy and James Edward McGaughy. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren, Ark. She is survived her husband of 65 years, Barney Adams of the home; three daughters, Linda Rouse and husband Mike of Bethel Heights, Ark., Charlene Munsch of Sapulpa, Okla., Charlotte Walker and husband, Jim of Lowell, Ark.; two sons, Stephen Adams and wife Elizabeth of Santa Ana, Calif. and Kenneth Adams and wife Sandy of Fort Smith; a sister Billie Harris of Branson, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons Michael Rouse Jr, Matthew Adams, Justin Walker, Jamie Walker, Jacob Walker and Joel Walker. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Rouse. We would like to thank the staff at Methodist Health and Rehab, her caregiver Aleta Sewell, and staff at Peachtree hospice. The family will visit with relatives and friends Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Ocker Funeral Home, 700 Jefferson St., Van Buren, Ark.
