Manuel Augusto D'Almeida, proud Air Force Veteran, devout Catholic, lover of classical music, theology and history, inventive do-it-yourselfer, and one-man debate team, passed away on Jan. 11, 2018. Manuel was born April 17, 1930, in Hong Kong. As a boy during WWII his family was forced to flee to a refugee camp in neighboring Macau, China. As a young man, he left Hong Kong for good to make a new life in the USA. Manuel was proud to become a citizen of his new country and proud to serve in the military. Manuel met and married the love of his life, Virginia Madson, Jan. 2, 1961. They had four children. He was a graduate from Cal-State Fullerton and a retiree from John Deere. Manuel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia, and his four children, Michelle D'Almeida, Chris D'Almeida, Steve (Jody) D'Almeida and Joia (Steve) Sprenger and seven grandchildren, Steven, Jessica (Alan), Patricia, Kalen, Grant, Maddie and Christopher, brother Julio and sister Natercia, and two sisters- in- law Gwen and Mae. He is predeceased by two brothers Joe and Eduardo and a sister-in-law Mildred. A mass will be held in his honor on Jan. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St Bernard's Catholic Church.
