Jane Rowland Jones, age 93 of Rogers, passed away February 23, 2018 at Innisfree Health & Rehab. She was born July 16, 1924 in Forrest City, AR to Lula Mae Ferguson Rowland and Thomas Jefferson Rowland. Jane grew up playing the piano, singing in the church choir, and playing high school basketball, which likely influenced her lifetime love of Razorback sports. She graduated from Forrest City High School in 1942 and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville for two years, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and lived in historic Carnall Hall. Jane married Louis Buckner Jones on June 21, 1945, a union that lasted 53 years. Louis said that his love for Jane was cemented in the letters he received from her while serving in WWII. Anyone with a letter from Jane knows what a gift they were to receive – always crafted with detailed observations and made even more special by her beautiful penmanship. The Joneses built their life running the Graham Farm in Madison, Arkansas for 42 years. They were active in Madison United Methodist Church, where Jane played the piano many Sundays. After living and raising their children in eastern Arkansas, the couple moved to Rogers, Ark. in 1990. Jane and Louis were proud charter members of the Rogers First United Methodist Church, where she served as a Stephen Minister and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday school class for many years. In addition to talents in music and prose, Jane was an avid bird-watcher. She could be found many days watching and listening to the birds outside her windows, naming them by their songs. Jane was preceded in death by husband, Louis; daughter, Virginia "Gin" Jones Wright; her parents; brother, Thomas Rowland Jr.; and sisters, Virginia Rowland, Francis Miller, and Jean Hughes. She is survived by her son, Louis Buckner "Bucky" Jones Jr.; son-in-law, Dr. Larry D. Wright; daughter-in-law, Anita Jones; four grandchildren, Cliff Jones, Elisabeth Wright Burak (Joe), Carter Jones (Jayme), and Julia Wright Spears (Craig); six great-grandchildren, Clay Spears, Ellie Jones, Maddie Burak, Mayes Jones, Hendrix Spears, and Cole Burak; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jane's family extends our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Innisfree Health & Rehab and Circle of Life Hospice, who provided exceptional care to Jane at the end of her life. A celebration of Jane's life will be held Wednesday, February 28 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in downtown Rogers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jane's name to her beloved church, Rogers First United Methodist Church, 307 W Elm St, Rogers, Ark. 72756. Arrangements by Epting Funeral Home, Bentonville. Condolences: www.eptingfuneralhome.webs.com.
