James Leroy "Jim" Hunt

James Leroy "Jim" Hunt, 61, of Rogers, passed away at his home Wednesday, February 7, 2018 after a brief illness. Jim was born to Richard Hunt and Lois (Stephens) Hunt on July 21, 1956 in Hamburg, Iowa. Jim graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1974 and joined the Army attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. In 1992 Jim was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the Gulf War. After the war he was stationed at the Ray Barracks in Friedberg, Germany, where he served with the 4/67 Bandits. Jim eventually made it stateside where he served in Louisiana until 1998 when he retired and moved to Arkansas. During his time in Rogers Jim worked for 15 years in the construction and contracting sales industry and was employed with BMC at the time of his death. Jim is survived by three children, Jamie Hunt, Jake Hunt, and Jennifer Hunt; his father and stepmother, Richard and Lucille Hunt; a sister, Susie Tillman and husband Tim; a brother, Randy Hunt; four grandchildren, Sawyer, Ethan and Talon; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Lois, in 1994. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 11, at Nishna Valley Funeral Chapel in Shenandoah, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery in Van Meter.
