Gary Eugene Bridges, 82, of Springdale, died January 3, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born April 11, 1935 in Oakland, California to Roy C. and Bernice Bridges. Graduated from Glenn Rose High School; attended the Little Rock Junior College (later known as the University of Arkansas Little Rock) where he was vice-president of Delta Kappa in 1953. He followed in his father's footsteps of construction at an early age which led him to working for J.H.Leveck & Sons, where he started as a timekeeper, then office manager, then project manager from there he came to the Main Street Bridge where he stayed until completion. At age 21 he was the Superintendent of four big projects costing almost a half-million dollars in 1957. He continued various bridge and dam projects around the state of Arkansas which led him to Northwest Arkansas where he started the concrete division as Concrete Superintendent for McClinton Anchor. In May of 2004 he decided to retire after 20 years of building bridges, overpasses and curb work in NW Arkansas and pursue a more leisure lifestyle. He lived in Springdale, Ark. for 43 years where he was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years; his parents; and one brother, Dennis Bridges. He is survived by two daughters, Tina Fuhrman and husband Mark of Frisco, Texas; Lynne Echols of Little Rock; three sons, Barry Bridges of Fayetteville; Steve Bridges and wife Linda of Little Rock and Mike Bridges and wife Sharon of Little Rock; three granddaughters, Sarah Fuhrman of Texas; Elissa Bridges of Fayetteville; Jennifer Bridges of Little Rock; six grandsons, Justin Fuhrman of Hot Springs; Evan Bridges of Fayetteville; Tony Bridges and wife Kim of Little Rock, Christopher Bridges of Little Rock, Ryan Bridges and wife Hallie of Houston, Texas and Kevin Bridges of Fayetteville; one sister, Donna Johnson of Little Rock; one brother, Curtis Bridges of Little Rock, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends who will miss him greatly. A memorial will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Sisco Funeral Home with the Reverend Mickey Rapier officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Bible Church, 1051 W. Pleasant Grove Rd., Rogers, 72758 and NW Arkansas Children's Hospital, 4093 West Sunset Ave., Springdale, 72762.
