Ralph Eugene (Gene) Fellows, 91, of Bella Vista, Arkansas passed away August 12, 2018 at Highlands Healthcare and Rehab in Bella Vista. Gene was born in Rock Island, Ill., on March 26, 1927 to Ralph T. and Agnes (Olson) Fellows. He attended public schools and graduated from Rock Island High School in 1945. Upon graduation he enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Upon being discharged from the Navy he attended A.I.C. in Davenport, Iowa. Following the service, he began his career with John Deere Co., serving as a Territory Manager, then as Credit Manager for 35 years. On October 8, 1950, he and his wife, Betty (Blayney) Fellows were married in South Park Presbyterian Church in Rock Island, Ill. Upon retirement he and Betty moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas where they have lived for the past 34 years. They enjoyed golf, fishing, attending 17 Elderhostel Programs and other travels. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Donald Fellows, and in 1953 an infant son. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty, two sons, David E. Fellows (Judy) and their children, Jared and Jordan of Overland Park, Kan., and Bryan (Jan) and their son, Deston of Lino Lakes, Minn. Gene was a member of Highlands United Methodist Church where he was actively involved in sound work, the Salvation Army Food Pantry and their Red Kettle Christmas Campaign and Meals on Wheels. A memorial service will be held at Highlands United Methodist Church, Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Highlands United Methodist Church, 371 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, Ark., 72715, Bella Vista Animal Shelter, PO Box 5248, Bella Vista, Ark., 72714 or Highlands Healthcare and Rehab, 670 Rogers Road, Bella Vista, Ark., 72715. The family would like to sincerely thank all the employees of Highlands Healthcare and Rehab for the compassionate care they've given Gene for the past 6 ½ years.
