Robert Kirk Horner, 89, of Bentonville, Ark., passed from this life peacefully, Friday, April 13, 2018. He was born July 6, 1928, in Wichita, Kan. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII, and then 37 years as a letter carrier in the U.S. Postal service. He led Boy Scouts for 40 years, earning the Silver Beaver award. He was a mentor to many youth in the Municipal Court system in Derby, Kan., where he and his wife lived for 55 years before moving to Northwest Arkansas. He loved woodworking, writing, camping and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann; parents Edwin Ivan and Laura Pauline; and siblings Lawrence and Edwina. Survivors include his daughter Cheryl and her husband Bruce; son Robert and his wife Vickie; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, whom he loved to be surrounded by. There will be no public memorial service at this time. Robert and his wife Ruth are to be interred at Fayetteville National Cemetery at a later date.
