James R. Dollar, age 81, passed away at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville on Easter Sunday 2018. He was born December 29, 1937 in Millsboro, Pa., to Kitty and John Dollar. His dad was a coal miner. He was the third of four children. Known to his family and friends as Jimmie or Pops, he was always an overachiever and had a zest for learning and life. Despite contracting meningitis at a young age leaving him partially deaf, he became an Eagle Scout at age16 and was a Pennsylvania State wrestling champion his senior year in high school. He attended Rochester Institute of Technology on a wrestling scholarship and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served most of his military career in Korea. Upon discharge, he begin a working career that took him all over the world. Starting with General Dynamics in Ft. Worth where he worked on the F1-11 fighter plane project to be followed by establishment of his own company, J&D Consultants. Jimmie became involved in ventures including commercial construction, motion picture production, and restaurant ownership. He also consulted on aeronautical projects for, among others, Saudi Arabia, the Sultan of Brunei, and the royal family of Dubai. He loved what he did and did it very well. In his leisure time, he ran marathons/hiked, manicured his "maintenance free" yard/home, and caressed and rebuilt classic vehicles… including his original '68 Porsche, a '78 Ferrari (Magnum PI), and Dryad, a restored '41 Chris Craft motorboat. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack (who passed 4/2) and sister, Joanie. He is survived by his loving wife, Judie; his only son, John David, wife Amy and three grandchildren: James, Austin and Caroline of Arlington, Texas; his step-daughter, Kimberly of Ft. Worth, Texas; his brother, Tom in Rochester, N.Y.; and numerous friends world-wide. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 14th at the Bella Vista Funeral Home, (2258 Forest Hills Blvd.), Bella Vista. Immediately following the service, a Celebration of Life Luncheon will be served in the Fellowship Hall at the Bella Vista Presbyterian Church (1880 Forest Hills Blvd).
