Angela Dawn Cockrum

Angela Dawn Cockrum, the daughter of Mack Ray Cockrum and Dorthy Jean (Smith) Maxey, was born on July 5, 1961 in Muskogee, Okla., and departed this life on March 31, 2018 in Bentonville, Ark., at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 16 days. Angela was a free spirit and loved life. There were several words that described her such as daughter, sister, wife, mother, granny, aunt, great aunt, nurturer, joyful, positive, spontaneous, spiritual, artistic… She was basically just a ray of sunshine every day. She was the glue that held everyone together. She never went a day without talking to her family. She loved celebrations and hosting events; Christmas was one of her favorite times and she loved kids at Christmas. She could make anywhere feel like home. She loved to camp and you would feel like home at her campsite. One year, she made an entire Thanksgiving dinner in the woods under an old Army tent. She could do anything. Driving a truck was her dream, and she had always been told she was too small or just a girl. But one thing about her was that if you doubted she could, she would show you that she could. At the age of 31 she began driving trucks and learning how to operate heavy equipment. For the last 25 years she's been living her dream. Angela never had a bad word to say about anyone. She enjoyed nature and she loved the water. She lived on Beaver Lake and enjoyed fishing. She took care of everyone and wanted to help whether she knew you or not. She wasn't scared of anything and would go headstrong into anything fearless. She absolutely loved her job and her co-workers. Angela touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her father Mack Ray Cockrum; and her sister Kathy Lynn Cockrum. She is survived by a loving family, which includes her husband Thomas Owen of the home; her mother Dorthy Maxey and husband Robert of Bunch; her children Chad Brewer of Bentonville, and Glenda Sallee and husband James of Coalgate; her brothers Mack Ray Cockrum Jr. and wife Okcha of Rose, and Steven cockrum and wife Kassi of Bunch; her sisters Eujeanna Teague of Springdale, and Susan Clark and husband Tim of Cookson; and seven grandchildren: Avery Brewer, Cayden Brewer, Emma Brewer, Reese Sallee, Abby Sallee, Maci Sallee and Eli Sallee. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, very dear friends, and other relatives also survive her. All are invited to a memorial gathering from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville, to tell stories about Angela's colorful life.
