Billy George Norvell Sr.

Billy George Norvell Sr., 67 of Farmington, quietly departed this life Nov. 9, 2013 at his home in Farmington, Ark. Bill arrived to greet his anxious parents, George Norvell Jr. and Carrie Catherine Parks Norvell on April 28, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was a 1964 graduate of Capital Hill High School in Oklahoma City. He spent the majority of his working years in sales. He did not want his passing to be a somber event. He met his wife, Vicki Blackwell, in 1971 in Fayetteville, Ark., while visiting relatives. They married and made their home in Oklahoma City and Moore, Okla., before returning to Northwest Arkansas in 1979. He quickly felt at ease among the laidback, friendly locals. Bill enjoyed the beautiful Ozark Mountains, the multitude of lakes and streams, and the abundance of wild life. He was especially fond of watching the deer quietly grazing on the back lawn. He was a junk trade extraordinaire, a shill (?) he learned from his father as a child and continued until he died. Bill had an insatiable appetite for restoring classic cars, (many of which he started, but never quite finished). After he became disabled, he passed his time by haunting various car businesses around town. Survivors include his mother, Carrie Catherine Parks Norvell of Moore, Okla.; his wife of 42 years, Vicki Blackwell Norvell, of the home; a son, Billy George Norvell Jr. and his wife, Mistie, of Farmington, Ark.; a brother, Michael L. Norvell of Farmington, Ark.; two sisters, Linda K. Apple and her husband, Ron, of Moore, Okla., and Amanda R. Norvell, of Stillwell, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Brandon and Dakota Norvell of Farmington, Ark. The deceased did not want a funeral. He is resting peacefully at Fayetteville's historic Mt. Comfort Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.
