James Joseph Stival, 73, of Bentonville passed away Friday, October 27, 2017. He was born March 6, 1944 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to the late Mario Anthony Stival and Stephania Bilka Stival. He was also preceded by a sister, Elizabeth Diehl and his brother, Paul Stival. James proudly served his country in the US Air Force. While serving, he organized a band that won the Air Force Band competition. His love of music continued throughout the years performing in several 50s bands and he also enjoyed camping, boating and times shared with his family. James served on the Los Angeles Police Department before a long-time career in healthcare financial administration. He loved his church and served as a member of the High Council, as a Bishop and numerous other callings. Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Mary Jane Stival; his daughter, Melanie Durham (Donny) of Florida; his son, Byron Stival (Janelle) of Bella Vista; his twin sister, Rosemary Matacavage (Joe) of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Adrian Jones, Tyler Durham, Elexa and Brooklyn Dostie, Trinity, Asher and Bristol Stival; numerous extended family, dear friends and his church family. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 followed by his Funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 950 Seba Rd. in Centerton.
