Donald Lee McKelvy, 87, of Springdale, died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the VA Medical Center of Fayetteville. He was born March 13, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the son of Evelyn and Arthur Booker McKelvy. He served in the US Army where he earned an Honorable Discharge after serving in the Korean Conflict. In 1964 he became a farmer near Lincoln, Arkansas where he dedicated himself to lovingly raising his family and tending to the animals God placed in his care for the next 45 years. He loved reading the Bible, which was his source for inspiration and guidance, and lived his life as an example of faith for his family. He was preceded in death by: his parents, and one grandson. Donald is survived by: his wife; Jean of 64 years, one daughter; Linda Peak and her husband Jeff, of Springdale, one son; Marlin McKelvy and his wife Tina, of Memphis, Tennessee, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Geddie and her husband Herschel, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. A celebration of his life will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Springdale Missionary Baptist Church. Inurnment took place at National Cemetery located in Fayetteville.
