Raymond Harlowe Beans

Raymond H. Beans, 83, of Rogers, Arkansas passed away January 3, 2017 after a short illness. He was born October 26, 1933 in Atwater, Ohio. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he graduated from The Ohio State University in 1960 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and began a career with E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company which took him and his family around the country until his retirement in 1991. In 1961 he married Amy, who remained the love of his life until she passed away in 2011. Together they were devoted to their four children, never missing an event or failing to support them through life's trials, while celebrating their successes with intense pride. He later enjoyed the same devotion to his eight grandchildren. Raymond was handy with tools and tinkering and became a Master Gardener when he and his wife retired to Rogers. An active member of First Christian Church in Rogers, he enjoyed volunteering at the food pantry there. He worked as a miller at War Eagle Mill. He was an outdoorsman and sports fan who enjoyed the offerings of Northwest Arkansas in his retirement. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harlowe and Bessie Beans; brother, Charles and his wife, Amy. Raymond is survived by his sisters, Ilene (Gene), Alliance, Ohio; Diane, Hartville Ohio, and Barbara (Ted), Jupiter Fla.; by his sons, Charles Raymond Beans (Kate), Atlanta, Ga.; John Beans (Susan), Danville Calif.; daughter Laurie Winakur (Eric), Alexandria, Va.; son, David Beans (Amy) of Alexandria, Va.; and grandchildren, Marcus Harlowe, Sarah Margaret "Maggie", Morgan, Madeleine, Payton, Terry, Jason, and Caroline, as well as nieces and nephews.
