James Edward Dockery

James Edward Dockery died January 17, 2017 in Little Rock, Ark. at the age of 71. He was born in Sunset, Ark., the youngest of four. His parents, James Loyd Dockery and Ola Jones Dockery, preceded him in death. Jim started first grade at the age of 5 in a one room school, then moved to Springdale, Ark. where he attended Springdale High School and started preaching at Johnson Church of Christ at age 16. Jim attend Harding College where he majored in Speech and Theology. He then continued his education at the University of Arkansas for his Master's Degree. Jim furthered his graduate studies at Louisiana State University, then taught speech and coached debate at Henderson State University before entering the world of business He opened Adecco Employment Services and served the community in job placements for over 20 years. Jim never stopped serving the Lord. He attended Pleasant Valley Church of Christ where he taught adult Bible classes for over 30 years, served as deacon, and then as an elder, until his death. Jim leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Lois Bock Dockery; three children, Angela (Shawn) Abernathy of Millington, Tenn., Kristina (Alan) Gable of Maumelle, Ark., and Barry Dockery of Summit, Miss.; three grandchildren, Avery, Emersyn and Mallory Gable; three sisters, Georgia Reading of Fayetteville, Ark., Dixie Higgs of Fayetteville, Ark. and Donna Baker of Springdale, Ark. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. 72211, (501) 224-8300. Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2017 at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, 10900 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Ark. He will be laid to rest at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Fairview Memorial Gardens, 1728 Mission Blvd., Fayetteville, Ark.
