Garry Marcus Koettel

Garry Marcus Koettel of Little Rock, Arkansas departed this life on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the age of 62. He was born August 13, 1954 in Newport, the son of Alton Leo "Buddy" and Ada Belle (Kirksey) Koettel. Garry graduated from Newport High School in 1972. Following high school, he attended the University of Arkansas, earning a degree in Civil Engineering in 1981, followed by an MBA from Webster University. Garry was a former member and past president of the Farmington School Board, and the Farmington Planning Commission. He was a member of the Society of Civil Engineers. Garry enjoyed camping and hiking, and his greatest joy was watching his sons play sports, and spending time with his grandson, Grayson, and granddaughter, Amelia. Garry was preceded in death by his father, Alton "Buddy" Koettel. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Vivian (VanWinkle) Koettel of Little Rock; his mother, Belle (Kirksey) Koettel of North Little Rock; two sons, Garrett Koettel and wife, Grace, of Fayetteville, and Grant Koettel of Memphis; one brother, Rodney Koettel and wife, Patti, of North Little Rock; one sister, Debbie Bowman and husband, Roger, of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Grayson and Amelia, along with a baby boy due in May; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, at 12 noon at the Remmel Church, with visitation following. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews, Ryan Bowman, Peyton Bowman, Jay Gramling, Jeffery Gramling, Hunter Woods, Tyler Koettel, and Seth Koettel.
