Graveside services for R.D. Shoulders will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport, La., with the Rev. William Peeples officiating. Mr. Shoulders, 93, of Bella Vista, Ark., and formerly of Shreveport, passed away on Dec. 24, 2017, following a brief illness. Born Jan. 25, 1924, in Clarksville, Texas, to the late Luther and Carrie Evett Shoulders, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anita Ruth Potter Shoulders and his twin brothers Lloyd and Floyd Shoulders. He is survived by his son Robert David Shoulders and wife Priscilla, his granddaughter Susan Shoulders Provenza and husband Joseph, great-grandchildren Jacob Anthony and Abigail Grace Fontana, all of Bella Vista, Ark. Mr. Shoulders graduated from Greenwood High School, Greenwood, La., in 1941. Following graduation, he joined the US Navy serving his country as a Navy fighter pilot until the end of WWII at which time he attended Centenary College and Southern Methodist University obtaining a Masters degree of Religious Education. Mr. Shoulders was an ordained Methodist Minister serving as associate pastor at First United Methodist Church in Shreveport, La. As a businessman, he served as Executive Director of Goodwill Industries until his retirement in 1986. Those wishing to make a memorial in his memory may do so to the charity of their choice. Local arrangements are under the care of Rollins Funeral Home.
