Velda Jane Mahan

Velda Jane Mahan, age 79, of Springdale, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in Fayetteville. She was born April 24, 1938 in the Hamestring Community, near Wheeler, Arkansas, the daughter of Vester Erman and Mary Eda Cox Ledbetter. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard Ledbetter and Robert Ledbetter. She was a retired administrative secretary, an avid gardener and fisherman and a daylilly hybridizer. Her husband, Jim, was the laborer and she was the mastermind. She is survived by her husband, James Mahan; a daughter, Merna Fallin and husband Zacharyof Miami, Florida; a son, James Mahan Jr. of Gulf Shores, Alabama; a brother, Darrell Ledbetter of Fayetteville and three sisters, Elaine Hegglund of Wichita Falls, Texas, Judi Hayden of Juneau, Alaska and Debbie Ingraham of Springdale. Visitation will be held at 12 noon, Friday, December 22, 2017 at Moore's Chapel followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m..
