Connie Maxine Tharp, (84), passed away peacefully on November 23, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Her beloved husband of 61 years and three children were by her side. She was born on November 18, 1933 in Caldwell, Texas to Walter and Lois Campbell. She grew up in East Texas and graduated from high school in Henderson. After moving to Houston to start a career, she met the love of her life, Jack H. Tharp. They were married on July 7, 1956, and went on to have three children. Connie lived a full and happy life, and was considered by all to be the heart of her family. A devoted wife, she fully supported her husband Jack in his career in the oil industry, moving several times between Houston, Lafayette, and New Orleans. They developed many dear friendships wherever they lived, and are fortunate to have maintained many of these throughout the years. They spent a few years overseas in Cairo, Egypt, during which they developed a love for worldwide travel. They had the opportunity to take many fabulous trips all over the world. They moved back to Houston in 1989, where they have lived since. Also a devoted mother, Connie gave unending love and support to her three children throughout her life. They relied upon her comfort and advice, even as adults. Perhaps her most joyful role was as grandmother - she had seven adoring grandchildren, ranging in age from 5 to 32, whom she loved dearly. Connie is survived by her husband Jack, of 61 years; her children, Gary Tharp and his wife Bonnie from Lafayette, La., Gwen Tharp Wilkinson and her husband Joe from Katy, Texas, and Christi Tharp Yurttas and her husband, Orhan from Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Allison, Rebecca, and Joshua Tharp, Brooks Dartez, Scott and Kelly Wilkinson, and James Yurttas. She is also survived by her sister, Jackie Painter from Austin, Texas. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 1st from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. as well as a funeral service Saturday, December 2nd at 10 a.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Memorial Oaks Funeral Home is located at 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079.
