Donald Killough Fitzgerald, age 79, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. He was born on July 9, 1938, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Austin N. and Josephine Killough Fitzgerald. He is survived by his wife, Frances Lepine Fitzgerald; his daughter, Lynne Fitzgerald; his son, Randy Fitzgerald and wife Sherry; two grandchildren, Austin Cole and Alexa Morgan Fitzgerald; and his beloved dog, Lily. Don attended Fayetteville public schools. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BSBA in business and a BA in architecture. He went on to graduate with an MA in architecture from the University of New Mexico. He was a licensed architect in Arkansas and Florida, as well as a member of AIA. He enjoyed designing both residential and commercial designs and was an associate broker at Lindsey and Associates in Fayetteville. He liked building and flying model airplanes, snow skiing, oil painting, was an avid Razorback and Dallas Cowboy fan, and held an instrument rated pilot license. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willard Walker Hospice Home at 325 E. Longview St., Fayetteville, Ark., 72703, or the Fayetteville Animal Shelter at 1640 S. Armstrong, Fayetteville, Ark., 72701, or a charity of choice.Cremation was by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A private burial will take place at a later date.
