Johnny Darrel Tittle, 62, of Elkins, a man after God's own heart, is now residing in Heaven! He was born to Darrel and Dixie Tittle in Dallas, Texas on July 31, 1954. He passed from this life on September 23, 2016, while doing something he loved dearly. He was riding his 1982 custom painted Honda Goldwing. His absolute favorite time of the year was "Bikes, Blues, & BBQ". The greatest loves in his life were his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family, riding one of his motorcycles, music, and singing. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Janna; three sons, Michael, Timothy, and Jason; his mother, Dixie; two brothers, Jim Tittle and his wife Margaret; and Jim Ross and his wife, Lynn; 4 nephews, Jeremy and his wife, Elisabeth, and their sons, Matthew and Rowen; Richard and his daughter, Hanna; David and his wife, Christina; Scott Tittle; and his niece, Connie; father-in-law and mother-in-law James and Billie Ross. He was the owner of Johnny Tittle Maintenance and Repair. Johnny was a founding member of the Singing Men of Arkansas. He was on the Governing Council and worked on publicity. He loved being involved in this great ministry of music. They have sung in Ireland, and on a cruise to the Bahamas in several ports and on the ship, but his favorite tours were the prisons in Oklahoma and Arkansas. He was able to share meals and his testimony of the Lord's work in his life with inmates. He was currently teaching two Bible studies each week at the Atlanta Bread Company in Fayetteville, but the highlight of each week was his time spent in Bible study with a group of very sweet ladies he loved deeply at Morningside in Fayetteville. Johnny was currently a volunteer teacher of sophomore World History at Fayetteville Christian School, a ministry of Mission Blvd. Baptist Church. He has taught for many years and always thought of student as "his kids". He was always saddened when summer came. He had just finished writing a book on Biblical Concepts and it is being prepared for publishing. These are the lessons he has been teaching for the last 38 years. He had worked on it for the last three years. Johnny also liked to have a good cigar from time to time. On Friday nights, he could be found at One-Eyed Jack's in Bentonville. He loved to talk to the guys there about the Lord. He knew his Bible so well he could give you scripture and verse on almost any question you had. "Big Joe" Modglin, the owner, is setting aside Friday nights as "Johnny Tittle Night". He was known for his Texas Chili and Smoked Meats. He has done fundraisers for his sons Michael and Tim's trail life Troop and for the House of Destiny, a ministry of Mission Blvd. Baptist Church. He wrote, directed, and acted in this ministry every Halloween for the last 20 years. Every July 4th at the MBBC annual picnic at Prairie Grove Battlefield Park he would arrive early to rev up his smoker so he could prepare ribs, brisket, burgers, hot dogs, etc. for his whole beloved church. Johnny was the longest serving deacon at MBBC. He was ordained by the church in 1977. He had the responsibility of making sure the main building of the church that housed the Sanctuary was ready for each service. Perhaps his favorite ministry at church was being known as "The Sucker Man". He always carried Dum-Dum suckers for the children. He wanted the children to know they were each very important to the leadership of the church and that they would look forward to and enjoy coming to church. Johnny was mayor of Elkins for a while and also ran for the Washington County Quorum Court. He had also served on the Washington County Republican Committee. He was well aware that his spiritual gifts were teaching and encouraging people. He wanted each person he met up with to be able to say it was a blessing to have been around him. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and a great all-around friend! He would give you ‘the shirt off his back' if the Lord showed him your need. Johnny will be missed by many who knew him! A memorial service to celebrate his life is scheduled for Friday, September 30, at 1 p.m. at Mission Blvd. Baptist Church. Cremation was provided by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville Christian School, 2006 Mission Blvd., Fayetteville, Ark. 72703. Condolences may be given online at www.nelsonberna.com.
