Madeline Rose, age 96, of Fayetteville, passed away at Innisfree Rehab and Nursing Home in Rogers on September 20, 2016. She was born to Ruth and Tom Clarke on May 28, 1920 in Maysville, Arkansas. Madeline graduated from Gravette High School in 1938, attended the U of A from 1938-1942, was a member of Epsilon Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority where she served as President. After marrying, she taught high school math in Ozark and in later years in Prairie Grove. She was also a golfer, loved motorcycles, bridge, but most of all, loved horse racing. She spent her honeymoon at Oaklawn and never missed an opening day until 2014. She was also a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Mrs. Rose is preceded in death by her parents from Jay, Oklahoma, husband, retired Washington County Agriculture Agent and former State Representative Carl Rose, and daughter, Mary Jane Rose. Survivors are daughter, Jannette Epes of Bentonville; three grandchildren, Justin Mills (Becky) of Rogers, Maria Epes Lawless (Rich) of Hot Springs, and Julie Epes King (Hank) of Cicero, Indiana; five great-grandchildren, Gunner and Hunter Lawless, Blair and Mary Madeline King, and Phillip Mills. Visitation will be 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Moore's Chapel. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, at Moore's Chapel. Burial will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
