Harry L. Artripe

Harry L. Artripe of Springdale passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. He was born April 28, 1929 in Ingleside, Texas, to George and Lillian Ives Artripe. The family moved to Springdale in 1938 to an eighty acre farm, three miles west of Springdale. Harry and his four brothers were enrolled in the Oak Grove Grade School in the Oak Grove Community west of Springdale. He graduated from Springdale High School in 1947. He then worked at the First National Bank for three years and was drafted into the United States Army in 1951. He served in the Korean War and in Japan. After being discharged he moved to Kansas City, Missouri. He was employed with Continental Airlines and after twenty five years of service he retired in San Antonio, Texas in 1979. After five years he moved back to Springdale. He was a baptist. Harry liked to bowl and through the years he joined many bowling leagues. On February 8, 1999 he joined C.O.A., Springdale Meals on Wheels program delivering meals to the elderly and shut-ins. He continued volunteering until March 1, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Arnold, George, Richard, Lawrence and Leslie and one sister Fern Artripe. Survivors include many nieces and nephews including Jeff Artripe of Springdale. Graveside services will be Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale.
