James Martin Cropp

James Martin Cropp, 84, of Bella Vista Arkansas, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016. He was born October 14, 1931 in Oak Park, Illinois to Otis and Audrey Cropp. He spent most of his childhood in Ottumwa, IA before joining the Marines in 1952. Upon completing his military service Jim resumed his career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company working in Omaha, Neb. and Des Moines, Iowa until retiring in 1986. Post retirement his extensive knowledge in telecommunications kept him in demand, providing his services to multiple organizations including McLeod USA and the State of Iowa's Communication Network. When not working Jim's passions included fishing, hunting, and camping. Time spent with family, friends and an afternoon sarsaparilla were precious to him. Jim is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judy, sons, Wes Cropp, Martin (Helen) Cropp, daughters, Laurie (Kim) Hodne, Brenda Dinkla, Sara (Bryan) Weringa and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Donna, sister, Carol Hudson, and daughter, Terri Schroder. A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the family for a memorial to be directed later. Arrangements are under the direction of Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.
