Bettye Lewis Knowles Moon

Bettye Lewis Knowles Moon died on Thursday, March 17, 2016, in Bryan, Texas. She was born on March 8, 1931, in Austin, Texas to Lewis Alton Knowles and Zola Mae Gunn Knowles. She received a Bachelor of Science from Texas State College for Women in Denton and a Master of Arts from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. She was the beloved wife of Wallace Wade (Wally) Moon and devoted mother of five. She is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, her children Wally Joe Moon and wife Sue Roberson, Zola Knowles Moon, Elizabeth Knowles Moon Ross, Mary Knowles (Moon) Scherrer and husband John, LaRhesa Knowles Moon (Pollock); her grandchildren Brad Baker and wife Jen, Cameron Elizabeth Moon, Joshua Moon Pollock, Analesa Grace (Pollock) Lyles and husband Tripp, Christine Ann Scherrer, Samantha Zola Scherrer, and Karen Moon Ross; her brother Dr. Joe Knowles, of Amarillo, Texas, her mother, Zola Gunn Knowles, of Bryan, Texas, and many dear relatives and friends. The Moon Family would like to thank Brazos Valley Hospice Care, the medical personnel, and individuals who helped care so lovingly and compassionately for Bettye during her illness. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Bryan, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund or to Lakeview Methodist Conference Center.
