Helen Joyce Engler
Helen Joyce Engler, 78, passed from this life on March 7, 2016, and was joined with her Heavenly Father. She was born in Durant, Okla. and moved to Yuma, Ariz. with her parents in the 1950's. She graduated from Yuma Union High School and attained her college diploma in music from Northeastern University in Chicago, Ill.
Aunt Joyce was a pianist at heart playing the piano from the age of five. Her mother said she had "perfect pitch". Along with being on faculty at Northeastern University, she was on faculty at the prestige Chicago Conservatory College (claimed to be the first music conservatory in the U.S.) teaching piano. She held numerous recitals and concerts. She was an award winner with Society of American Musicians.
After retiring in the early 1990's, she moved to the Rogers area to be closer to her mother. Aunt Joyce was a devoted daughter, making the needs of her parents her first priority.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Tommie Engler; a sister, Joe Sue Engler; and a nephew, Larry Cobb Engler.
She is survived by her nephews and niece, Michael Cobb, Gary Cobb (Sandee), and Suzanne Cobb; many great-nieces, nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all of us, but we look forward to seeing her again in the next life.
One of her beliefs was "believe that God has a purpose for each and every life and each and everything that happens. Our part is to love, obey, trust and follow".
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Rogers First Church of The Nazarene.
