Winfred "Win" Brown left this world for a better world on Sunday, February 28, 2016. He died at his home in Bentonville, AR following a brief illness. He was born March 26, 1922 in Dale, Okla. to Roland Brown and Lorena Dorsey Brown. He graduated from Dale High School with honors. As a student at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., and a member of ROTC, he joined the U.S. Army's 40th Division to receive technical training in communications at Hickam Field, Honolulu. He proudly served during WWII in the South Pacific and upon an honorable discharge, completed his education in Stillwater where he enrolled in the School of Engineering, along with courses in furniture manufacturing. He received recognition in a national publication for his skills in wood workmanship. Win was employed as a civilian for the U.S. Air Force at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City for 30 years as an aircraft engine specialist and logistics manager for the C-130's and B-52's. He retired, and he and his family moved from Edmond, OK, to the beautiful Ozarks in Northwest Arkansas. He worked for the Bella Vista POA, Southwest Homes, and the Bentonville Church of Christ. Win was an avid fan of all kinds of sports, but more importantly, enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends. He was a longtime member of NARFE and the Bella Vista Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ron Brown; an infant sister, Theida Brown; a brother, John Paul Brown; a nephew, Terry Don Brown; a niece, Judy Brown; and a son-in-law, Jim Wood. Win is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jo; his daughter, Janell Johnson and husband, Eric of Decatur, Ark.; a niece, Nancy Longnecker and husband, Murel of Shawnee, Okla.; and an adorable cousin, Anna Sue Rafferty of Bixby, Okla. Private interment will be at Arlington Cemetery in Oklahoma City, Okla. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers.
