Margaret Anna Sutherland

Margaret Anna Sutherland of Rogers passed away on January 2, 2016. She was born on September 30, 1921 north of Pea Ridge in the Twelve Corners Community to the late John Quincy Adams and Charlottie McCauley Harris Carnes. She was the wife of the late Marion "Slim" Sutherland. Margaret retired from Emerson Electric in the 1980s. In January 1960, she made a resolution to take her sons to the New Prospect Baptist Church, and she remained faithful for the rest of her life. She is survived by her sons, Sherman Sutherland (Dorothy) of Fairview, Ill., Frankie Sutherland (Becky) of Garfield, Roger Sutherland (Mary Ann) of Centerton, Doyle Sutherland (Cindy) of Seneca, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Anderson of Pea Ridge; a sister, Ona Thrasher; a half-sister, Patsy Ellis; half-brothers, Melvin, John, and Lonnie Carnes; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Richard Sutherland; three brothers; three sisters; two half-brothers; one half-sister; and a great-grandchild, TJ Sutherland. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at New Prospect Church in Garfield. Burial will follow in Bayless Cemetery. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Bayless Cemetery at P.O. Box 14, Gateway, Ark. 72733. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
