Wallace "Wally" Buttram

Wallace "Wally" E. Buttram, age 97, of Rogers, died November 19, 2015, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born in the Brightwater Community on November 4, 1918, to the late Edward Franklin and Dixie Belle (Baker) Buttram. Wally was a 1937 graduate of Rogers High School. After attending aviation school in Kansas City, he moved to Maryland where he worked for Martin Aviation Company building bombers during World War II. In 1945, he married Hazel Hicks and they were married almost 70 years at the time of her death in 2012. Survivors include sons, Rick Buttram and wife Jayne, Randy Buttram and wife Jo, all of Rogers; daughter, Sharon Buttram-Weber of Florida; sister-in-law, Anita Buttram of Rogers; grandchildren, Mance Buttram of Miami, Florida, Shelby and Matt Shy of Bentonville, Heather Buttram Gales of Rogers, Eric Buttram of Rogers; great-grandchildren, Ella Gales, Brooks Shy, and Coleman Wallace Shy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Hazel; brothers, Maurice, Harry, Fred, Frank, and Dan; and a sister, Bernice. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Oakley Chapel Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed and encouraged, but donations may also be made to Oakley Chapel United Methodist Church, 203 Promenade Blvd., Rogers, 72758.
