Mary Alice Arnold Dickens, a fifth generation Arkansan, was born on October 3, 1939 in Ratcliffe, Arkansas to Mary Nell McCoy Arnold and Harold Edward Arnold. She was preceded in death by her father, a daughter (Laura) and all grandparents. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, John Warren Dickens and also survived by her mother Mary Nell Isbell of Little Rock, two sons Warren Dickens (Brenda) of Boerne, Texas and Derek Dickens (Martha) of Lonsdale, Arkansas; three granddaughters; Elaine Dickens Hammock (Scott) of Boerne, Texas, Kate Dickens of Boerne, Texas, and Kris Dickens of Sanger, Texas; three great-granddaughters; Rylee & Parker Hammock and Mia Mason. Mary Alice also had a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and one uncle. After their marriage, Mary Alice and John lived most of their lives in the Dallas, Texas area. They started Dallas Strapping Company in 1976 and ran a successful business for 34 years working as partners. After retiring to Athens, Texas, they started a real estate development company and developed a beautiful wildlife protected residential area. Mary Alice loved her family above all. She was proud to be a graduate of Little Rock Central, Class of 1957. She also loved her Thursday afternoon Mah Jongg group and was a member of the Questers Antique Club. She was also a member of St. James United Methodist Church of Little Rock. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72212 at 11 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2015. In lieu of flowers, all donations should be made to St. Judes Childrens Research Center.
