Mina Marsh

Mina Marsh, age 73, died November 16, 2015 in Fayetteville. She was born January 4, 1942, in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, to Harold (Buck) and Lou Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents and by one grandson, Michael Austin Hazel. For 26 years Mina served as Deputy Director of the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, playing a definitive role in the shaping and development of a natural area preservation program that was and continues to be a model for the country. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville where she was an active member since 2002. She is survived by a son, Robert Austin and wife Dee of Little Rock; a daughter, Annalea Cassell and husband Jeff of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Sydney Bowers and Nicholas Cassell, both of Fayetteville; two sisters, Anna Bray and husband Frank of Benton and Norma Martin and husband Joe of Nashville. She leaves three step-grandchildren, Ariel, Stormy and Malachi; two step-great-grandsons and many other family members and friends. Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Friday November 20, 2015 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Memorials should be directed to the Ozark Chinquapin Foundation, the Arkansas Native Plant Society, the Ozark Natural Science Center, or St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
