Jane Rose Wilson Basse

Jane Rose Wilson Basse, 74, of Rogers, Ark., was blessed by heaven 5 Nov. in the year of our Lord 2015. Born 17 March 1941 in Gulfport, Miss., she is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Stewart M. and Dorothy Wilson of Rogers and her daughter, Nancy Marie Garratt, also of Rogers. She is survived by her loving husband of 56, Charles Basse of Rogers; her brother, Dr. Stewart M. Wilson, Jr. of Roseburg, Ore.; her sister, Diane Wilson of Cary, N.C.; and her son, Jim Basse of Bentonville, Ark. She is the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons. She is aunt to many nieces and nephews and forever known as Mrs. Basse to the children and friends whose soul she touched. She is descended of those seeking a new beginning in North America arriving on the Mayflower voyage and of a signatory to the Declaration of Independence. She loved reading, teaching, spending time with family and friends, traveling, gardening and bringing joy to the hearts of children, the sick and the elderly through her work in pet therapy. She loved music, the voices of children and all creatures great and small. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1959; became a dedicated wife and mother, teaching many in Rogers the gift of piano and sewing. She attended the University of Arkansas, receiving her degree in education to which she entered her life's work as a kindergarten teacher for the Rogers Public School system, investing herself in the lives of countless children, parents and friends at Northside Elementary, The Kindergarten Center and Grimes Elementary before retiring in 2005 after 29 years as an educator. She is remembered for giving herself to others through her continued love of reading to children and bringing a smile to others through pet therapy with Rob and Lucy. She leaves behind many fellow teachers and friends in whom was shared a love of teaching, of giving, of learning, of reading and studying the Holy word. Her kindness, gentle spirit and joy dwell in all whom she has touched. She found final peace as a member of First United Methodist Church of Rogers. The family is forever grateful to all for prayers, thoughts and kindnesses, and is comforted through your love for her. Her love for flowers are welcome, as are contributions to the American Cancer Society or to Pet Therapy Incorporated. A celebration of her life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Rogers, officiated by Rev. David Bentley at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 Nov. 2015. Arrangements and assistance provided by Rollins Funeral Home, Rogers Ark. are gratefully acknowledged.
