Norman Frisby

Norman Frisby, 92, passed away October 23, 2015 at Eagle Springs in College Place, Wash. Norman was born on May 24, 1923 to his parents George and Flora Spencer Frisby. He was the second of five children. Norman joined the CCC's (Civil Conservation Corps) at the age of 17. He contracted measles shortly after and nearly died when he developed pneumonia and was hospitalized. At the age of 19 he married his first love, Zona Calhoon, and moved to Washington State in the spring of 1941. Norman worked as a stonecutter, in communication repair; worked at and managed several fruit orchards; and later in life he became a baker, baking and managing bakeries for several retail and wholesale outlets in Walla Walla. His last job before retiring was with Albertson's where he managed the bakery for 13 years. Norman was well known for his natural mechanical and carpentry ability. He never stopped improving his homes and automobiles. At age 75, he built a large carport by himself. He had a passion for growing and nurturing all the plants in his gardens and landscaping around each of his homes. Everything was kept weed free and the fruit and vegetables he produced were enjoyed by his family and nearby friends. Norman is preceded in death by two wives, Zona and Dora, his son Sammie, brother John (JB) Frisby and by sisters Faye Weathers and Maxine Officer. He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter AnnasLee (Frisby) Hawley (Vic), grandson Kevin Hawley (Tracy) great-grandson Samuel Hawley, brother Gerald Frisby (Hazel) and many nieces and nephews, several step-children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family loved and respected him dearly. Norman will be greatly missed by his family, the Walla Walla Valley Adventist Single Adult Ministry friends and those who knew him best. Viewing will be held Friday, November 6th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, November 7th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 8th at the Village Church Chapel, 715 SE 12th Street, College Place, Wash. 99324.
