Lee Ankeny

Elmo Lee Ankeny, 82, of Pea Ridge, died December 28 at the Arkansas Veterans Home in Fayetteville. He was born July 6, 1933 in Villisca, Iowa to Milton Elmo Ankeny and Melvina Walters Ankeny. He graduated in 1952 from Villisca High School and married Shirley Mattingly on June 8, 1952. He joined the Navy later that year and was discharged in 1962. He worked for U-Haul all over Nebraska and was a police officer in Lincoln, Nebraska. Lee retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Lincoln as chief of security and was a member of First Baptist Church in Pea Ridge. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilla Tyler. Survivors are his wife, Shirley Ankeny of the home; three sons, David Ankeny (Chris) of Rogers, Ark., Roy Ankeny (Brenna) of Nixa, Mo., Michael Ankeny (Kim) of Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Eddie Ankeny of South Vienna, Ohio; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 5 at First Baptist Church in Pea Ridge. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge. Burial will be in the Pea Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday January 4 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1650 Slack Street, Pea Ridge, Ark. 72751.
