Robert Zane "Bob" Baley, 81, of Springdale, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at Arkansas Veterans Home in Fayetteville. He was born Aug. 6, 1934 in Chicago, Ill. to Charles and Anna (Cerveny) Baley. Bob retired from the Air Force as a Tech Sergeant in 1973. He was stationed throughout the world and his duties included Russian linguistics for the NSA. After his 20 years of military service he lived in Clarksville, Ark. for over 30 years as a real estate broker, published author and Johnson County appraiser before moving to Cave Springs. Bob's passions were photography, mechanical tinkering and woodworking. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Tontitown, the Knights of Columbus in Clarksville (serving as member and Grand Knight), a member and State Commander of the Disabled American Veterans, a Red Cross volunteer and was a graduate of the College of the Ozarks. Preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Frank and Richard, and a sister, Nancy, he is survived by his wife, Anita (Lucas) Baley, whom he married Nov. 16, 1957; five daughters, Kathleen Finnegan and husband Michael of Leesburg, Va., Laura Bazyk and husband Mark of Springdale, Michelle Cummin and husband Jerry of Pittsburgh, Penn., Noreen Baley of Springdale, Jackie Anderson and husband Dennis of West Fork; two sisters, Sharon Novak of Lombard, Ill. and Diane Thieda of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, Breana, Kyle, Mikaela, Ryan, Leigh, Matthew, Nathan, Alyssa, Lucas, Andy, Peter, Henry, Anthony, Timothy, Terry, Dustin; and five great-grandchildren, Easton, Asher, Richard, Landon and Aiden. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, December 31, followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Tontitown. Burial will be at Saint Joseph Cemetery. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Nadine Alex, Dr. Donald Ewing, Dr. Amy Irwin, the Arkansas Veterans Home, Circle of Life Hospice and Morningside of Springdale for their professional loving care of Bob during his extended illnesses.
