John E. Young, 79, of Seligman, Mo., passed away on Christmas Eve in Bentonville, Ark. after a brief, unexpected battle with cancer. He was born in Malvern, Ark. on July 20, 1936 to John Murry Young and Anna Lou Chamberlain. He graduated from high school in Corpus Christi, Texas and attended Vanderbilt University before serving in the army at Ft. Devens, Mass. John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Suzanne; daughter, Karen Horton and her husband Stan of Fayetteville, Ark.; son, John Murry Young, and daughters Jami Young and Leigh Young of Seligman, Mo.; son-in-law Robin Trevor Tucker of Little Rock; sister-in-law Annette Pallen and her husband Jose; and three grandchildren Park Horton, Jonathan Young, and Hannah Young. John is preceded in death by his parents John Murry Young and Anna Lou Bridges, his brother Park Chamberlain Young and his daughter, Virginia Louise (Ginny Lou) Tucker. John was an insurance agent and a realtor. He owned and operated a hydroponic farm in St. Thomas USVI and joined FEMA as an adjuster after his farm was destroyed by Hurricane Hugo in 1989. He continued as a disaster adjuster for Pilot Catastrophe Services until his retirement. John delighted in being surrounded by family, working around the farm, and cooking. The family would like to thank the staff of Northwest Medical Center and the Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village for their care of John in the final weeks of his life. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Malvern, Ark. for family and friends.
